ABOUT NIDS
Neyyattinkara Integral Development Society (NIDS) is a non-governmental organization which operates in Kerala, South India. It is registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 and is established to serve the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion, under the auspices of the diocese of Neyyattinkara.

OUR MISSION
 Empowerment of the marginalised communities towards sustainable and participatory development process.

OUR OBJECTIVES

• To promote sustainable agriculture through organic farming and animal husbandary.
  
• To facilitiate formation and strengthening of community based organizations and SHG's.
  
• To facilitiate collective learning and resource mobilation.
  
• To facilitiate participation of Women, Dalit, Tribals and other weaker sections of the society in development.
  
• To facilitiate collaboration with local bodies, government and other development NGOs.
  
• To initiate anti-narcotic activites and rehabilations.
  
• To initiate rehabilation programmes for the physically and mentally retarded, and the aged.
  
• To organize and train the children for integral development.
  
• To promote alternative health care systems and eco-friendly life style.
  
• To support target group for infrastructure development.

 

NIDS strongly believe in de-centralisation and people's participation for main streaming the poor. We have formed six commissions for the fulfilment on this mission. Each commission has got a variety of programmes which are planned and implemented with the participation of people in the Self Help Group (SHG), Unit, Region and Central levels. The commission representatives come together regularly to assess the progress of the programmes and to plan new strategies. Once in three months the central team consisting of the director and the Commission Secretaries sit with the regional leaders to assess the development process.
